Part 2 - Kukui, Kahuna and Me

I start up the game and immediately am left with a choice.

I have to choose one of nine languages to play the game in.

So... I cheated. I chose English. I know I'm supposed to leave everything to chance, but not this time.

I'm getting a call on my 3DS and it's from Professor Kukui!

I didn't know that the national tree of Hawaii had a doctorate!

And BAM I'm hit with Moana music, but with less Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

Actually... maybe not... This guy looks and acts like The Rock. I bet that he even has some sort of Polynesian tattoo on his shoulder.

Anyways he talks to me via Skype or something about how excited he is for me to come to Alola (is the Pokemon team even trying anymore?). He shows of an adorable Rockruff, which proceeds to stick its butt in the air and says he needs info from me to create my Trainer Passport.

The first choice is if I'm male or female. I take a die and roll. Odds are male, evens are female.

If this is any indication of how my trip through Alola will be, we may be in for another trip.

Next is to decide my hair color and skin color. there are four different choices. The first two are odds, the second two are evens.

One more roll to decide which woman I'll be...

Well... I've always wanted to be a blonde...

I name myself WhiteMistake... as I always do.

"Yeah, that's a name that hits you like a Thunderbolt outta the sky!" Kukui says.

So I ignore what he says and watch a cutscene that has some blonde chick, like me, running around from some goons. And then there is an explosion and the title screen pops up!

And then I accidentally fall asleep in real time.

I WAS TIRED AND IT WAS LATE.

I wake up in the morning and luckily the game was plugged in and it didn't die and it says that three months have passed.

Now feeling like Rumpelstiltskin (it's a story about a dude who slept for a lonnnnnng time, go read a book) my mom sends Meowth to wake me up!

At this point both myself and my blonde female self (this is going to get weird real quick) walk down stairs. Female me is in an island paradise, male me looks out the window and its snowing.

The doorbell rings for me in the game and my mom tells me to answer it and BAM!

Professor The Rock Kukui enters without being let in. He tells me that a Kahuna will give me a Pokemon so of course the little tweenager girl in me follows off with him.

We make our way to Iki Town, where the Kahuna lives, except he isn't there.

If I haven't played already I wouldn't know what the Kahuna looks like, but I would have assumed something like this...

Kukui tells me important information about the Kahuna, "The island Kahuna? You can't miss him. He looks just like a Kahuna!"

So, I'm off to find the Kahuna, but find blonde girl number two and she has... FLOATING COTTON CANDY! I want it! But there a bunch of Spearow flying around it.

I protect the blue cotton candy but it explodes and the bridge we are on falls into a deep ravine. And we die.

As we are flying a giant... thing... flies out of no where and saves the cotton candy and myself, but only after OBLITERATING the Spearow into nonexistence!

We are saved! And the girl takes her cotton candy, which turns out to be a Pokemon she calls Nebby. The 'thing' is actually a legendary Pokemon called Tapu Koko.

Us two blonde girls head into town, where the Kahuna (who actually looks like a Kahuna...)...

... is finally back and he throws out three Pokemon and tells me to choose one... there is the bow-tie wearing owl, Rowlett. The stripped fire cat, Litten. And the goofy seal Popplio.

The dice will decide which I receive...

One or two I get Rowlett. Three or four I get Litten. Five or six I get Popplio.

Here we go...
