Part 4 - Where I Talk Too Long About Farts

It's a new day! And I'm hoping that I can finally officially start my Nuzlocke Challenge... other than just farting around doing nothing.

And before anyone asks yes... I have seen the movie that this is from. It's called 'The ABCs of Death'.

Anyways...

The doorbell rings and outside its Lillie and she tells me a little bit about Nebby, or the artist formally known as Cosmog, or what I was calling the cotton canddy... or what looks like a blue fart cloud.

She asks me to keep her little fart cloud a secret and then leads me to a different part of Route 1 I couldn't go to earlier, which is a shame, because it has some nice Water-type Pokemon here.

We make our way to a dillapadated house and hear Professor Kukui screaming.

"Rockruff! Let's Go. Give it everything you've got! My body is ready!"

Lillie drags me inside, even though I don't want to go in there and Kukui gives me a Rotom Dex.

The Dex boots up and it says...

Is this game even for kids?

Kukui also gives me a Island Challenge Amulet, which is just cometic and does absolutely nothing for me in the game ever and it totally stupid and a waste of time and is as useful as a fart in the wind.

Now I'm told that I have to go towards Hau'oli City and go to the trainer school.

So off I go to school, but first I train a little more...

I get both of my Pokemon to level 10 when I run into a trainer.

"Let's go! Kneecaps!"

After I destroy his Pikipek he then responds, "Aw... brought to my knees!"

As I'm leaving this strange boy he shouts out to me, "I gotta catch more Pokemon! Pokemon with cool knees are neat!"

Just to let you know there is no technical term for a knee fetish. I looked it up.

Lillie is still dragging me around and shows me the first Pokecenter, which now has a Starbucks inside, because that is the correct progression in Pokecenter expansion...

I ignore everything she says and head straight for the Trainer School. Apparently the principal wants me to go beat up a bunch of students? I'm okay with that, plus I see grass and this is a new area!

I beat one pre-teen and her Pikipek.

I beat another kid and his Metapod.

And finally I can get in the grass!

I run into and...

It's a Magnemite! I was hoping for one of these. AND this one has Sturdy! So as long as I keep it healed it can't be killed in a single hit! Nice!

I catch it and name it Cracker.

I go and fight another toddler in the school which had a dangerous Bonsly.

It's dangerous because of its typing and how it could totally trash Jumbo and Chestnut, but I beat it no problem.

I find a teach who gives me a helpful Quick Claw, which I throw onto Chestnut.

Time for the last trainer who has an Alolan form Grimer.

For those of you who don't know some older Pokemon now have alternate forms. This is the first I've run into.

Grimer is still a gross pile of rank smelling goo. Which sometimes lets off Poison Gas, which is more or less a fart...

Anyways I almost lose both Jumbo and Cracker during this fight, but I win.

And then realize I should go train some more.

Which I do, before I have to go answer to the principal...

MY TEAM
Jumbo (Litten) - level 14 - Iki Town
Chestnut (Pikipek) - level 10 - Route 1
Cracker (Magnemite) - level 12 - Trainer School

Part 3 - Festival for Not-Arceus

With my newly obtained Pokemon, who I nicknamed Jumbo (a name a friend picked) Kukui gives us a Pokedex and a Trainer Passport.

Before I can really start my journey I have to go home to mom and show her Jumbo.

But first Hau blocks my way!

He must be my rival of the game and he sends out a Rowlett to fit me. I send out Jumbo and take out his Rowlett with two attacks!

After I win my bag glitters and I realize that it looks surprisingly like a watermelon...

Then the Kahuna totally just steals the stone that I got after being saved by Tapu Koko and says he'll give it back.

I bet the old man is gunna try and sell it for some quick cash and say he lost it...

When I get home I have a sudden sickening felling that I'm turning into my mother. This happens when her Meowth and my Jumbo meet for the first time.

Sorry... it's because I got a cat as well. I rolled a three. I got Litten.

I started with a Litten in my last playthrough, which is nice, because I know how to use it.

I go to sleep and the next day rolls around.

The doorbell rings and Kukui busts through the door again without waiting for me to answer. He wants me to follow him to Route 1, which is strange because I'm on Route 1 already techincally.

I head after him and he shouts, "Pretend you're using Agility!"

He teaches me how to catch Pokemon and sends me on my way! He also tells me to make my way to a festival, but finally I can train a little and catch a new addition to my team!

Being Route 1 and that I have not captured anything here, I can catch the first Pokemon that I run into!

I head straight for the grass and...

It's a Pikipek! I used this for a while in my last playthrough as well. It's pretty good too!

I catch the level three 'mon and name him Chestnut!

With a team of Jumbo and Chestnut we go training and fight our first real battle, which Chestnut beats the Ratatta in two Pecks.

We fight another trainer battle, which involves a Caterpie and it goes down in a single Peck.

Pikipek is doing pretty well!

At this point Chestnut is level 8 and Jumbo is level 10. I finally have made my way to the festival. There are some crazy island bongos going on in the music.

The Kahuna comes over to me and heals my Pokemon and then goes into a tirade about how we more or less worship Tapu Koko on this island and that we have this festival for it.

What happened to Arceus?!

It's Hau versus WhiteMistake again at the festival, but this time he has a second Pokemon!

He sends out Pichu and I send out Chestnut. His Pichu is faster and uses Charm, which normally would've been a problem, except I used Echoed Voice, which hits for just shy of half damage. Pichu counters with a Tail Whip, but I already had a second more powerful Echoed Voice sent over, which knocks out Pichu.

Next up is his Rowlett, just because I'm scared about having a big hit on Chestnut, I send out Jumbo. Jumbo uses Ember, which nearly knocks out Rowlett and Rowlett hits me with a Leafage. I follow-up with another Ember and badabingbadaboom.

I won!

As a reward the Kahuna gives me my stone back... BUT HE BROKE IT.

It's now a bracelet. i would have rather had the stone...

Then all of a sudden everyone is talking about me taking some sort of island challenge, which is NOT my Nuzlocke Challenge so I don't care.

I head home again and interrupt my mom, who is saying, "Honey, I'm home." to our Meowth.

I leave them alone and head to bed for the day, even though I feel like my blonde female self has only been awake for a couple hours.

Until next time.

MY TEAM
Jumbo (Litten) - level 10 - Iki Town
Chestnut (Pikipek) - level 8 - Route 1

Part 2 - Kukui, Kahuna and Me

I start up the game and immediately am left with a choice.

I have to choose one of nine languages to play the game in.

So... I cheated. I chose English. I know I'm supposed to leave everything to chance, but not this time.

I'm getting a call on my 3DS and it's from Professor Kukui!

I didn't know that the national tree of Hawaii had a doctorate!

And BAM I'm hit with Moana music, but with less Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

Actually... maybe not... This guy looks and acts like The Rock. I bet that he even has some sort of Polynesian tattoo on his shoulder.

Anyways he talks to me via Skype or something about how excited he is for me to come to Alola (is the Pokemon team even trying anymore?). He shows of an adorable Rockruff, which proceeds to stick its butt in the air and says he needs info from me to create my Trainer Passport.

The first choice is if I'm male or female. I take a die and roll. Odds are male, evens are female.

If this is any indication of how my trip through Alola will be, we may be in for another trip.

Next is to decide my hair color and skin color. there are four different choices. The first two are odds, the second two are evens.

One more roll to decide which woman I'll be...

Well... I've always wanted to be a blonde...

I name myself WhiteMistake... as I always do.

"Yeah, that's a name that hits you like a Thunderbolt outta the sky!" Kukui says.

So I ignore what he says and watch a cutscene that has some blonde chick, like me, running around from some goons. And then there is an explosion and the title screen pops up!

And then I accidentally fall asleep in real time.

I WAS TIRED AND IT WAS LATE.

I wake up in the morning and luckily the game was plugged in and it didn't die and it says that three months have passed.

Now feeling like Rumpelstiltskin (it's a story about a dude who slept for a lonnnnnng time, go read a book) my mom sends Meowth to wake me up!

At this point both myself and my blonde female self (this is going to get weird real quick) walk down stairs. Female me is in an island paradise, male me looks out the window and its snowing.

The doorbell rings for me in the game and my mom tells me to answer it and BAM!

Professor The Rock Kukui enters without being let in. He tells me that a Kahuna will give me a Pokemon so of course the little tweenager girl in me follows off with him.

We make our way to Iki Town, where the Kahuna lives, except he isn't there.

If I haven't played already I wouldn't know what the Kahuna looks like, but I would have assumed something like this...

Kukui tells me important information about the Kahuna, "The island Kahuna? You can't miss him. He looks just like a Kahuna!"

So, I'm off to find the Kahuna, but find blonde girl number two and she has... FLOATING COTTON CANDY! I want it! But there a bunch of Spearow flying around it.

I protect the blue cotton candy but it explodes and the bridge we are on falls into a deep ravine. And we die.

As we are flying a giant... thing... flies out of no where and saves the cotton candy and myself, but only after OBLITERATING the Spearow into nonexistence!

We are saved! And the girl takes her cotton candy, which turns out to be a Pokemon she calls Nebby. The 'thing' is actually a legendary Pokemon called Tapu Koko.

Us two blonde girls head into town, where the Kahuna (who actually looks like a Kahuna...)...

... is finally back and he throws out three Pokemon and tells me to choose one... there is the bow-tie wearing owl, Rowlett. The stripped fire cat, Litten. And the goofy seal Popplio.

The dice will decide which I receive...

One or two I get Rowlett. Three or four I get Litten. Five or six I get Popplio.

Here we go...

Part 1 - The Rules... For a Third Time

It's beginning again, folks.

Time for another Whitemistake Nuzlocke Challenge. The stakes are high. The grammar is low. What else can you expected from the almost annual Nuzlocke Challenge from yours truly?

I have yet to successfully complete these challenges. The first time I got all the way to the Elite Four and lost. The second time... well... you guys didn't even see how it turned out because life got in the way and I never finished the posts! But I bet you can't guess what I did!

So here I go again in hopes of finding happiness and meaning in my Pokemon life.

I shall remind you of the general rules of a Nuzlocke Challenge.

Number one.
If a Pokemon faints in battle, it is declared dead and must be released immediately (or as soon as possible). Straight forward and easy enough to understand.

Number two.
You may only catch the first Pokemon that you run into in each area. Here's an example. I've already been on Route 1 and captured a Pokemon. If I run into any more on Route 1, I cannot catch them. Even if the one I caught on Route 1 has died.

Number three.
I must nickname all of the Pokemon I capture. It's supposed to make you bond with your 'mons more.

Those are the big three. After that it becomes house rules for me.

Number four.
No experience share allowed. It's cheap and levels things up quickly. I'm supposed to be making the game harder not easier.

Number E.
In lieu of Experience Share, there will be no items allowed inside of battles, except for items that are being held by a Pokemon (berries are okay as long as they are being held). This doesn't make the game easier or harder, but shows that I'm playing the game strategigorically.

Number six.
All choices must be made randomly. Either by asking a random person, dice roll, coin flip, groundhog day style, etc. This also includes nicknames, so throw some in the comments if you want and I'll use them in the order that they are received.

Number seven.
No legendaries. They are super powerful and there are some that I can get just by using a bunch of repels. So none of those. Sorry Solgaleo.

Number eight.
This is more of an announcement. For those of you who have read my other Nuzlocke Challenge's may remember that I could ignore the first Pokemon I saw in each area if I had already captured it. Well... no longer. I must capture it.

BUT

I may take ONE. AND ONLY ONE. Duplicated Pokemon and Wondertrade it.

This means I will receive a random Pokemon from someone in the world and whatever Pokemon I receive is the replacement. That means I could potentially receive the same Pokemon or even a legendary. So I must be careful with who I trade off.

Number last rule.
No trading outside of the previous mentioned rule. Trading gives Pokemon an experience boost making them grow faster. It makes the game easier, which is why I am only allowing myself one trade. So no trading in the GTS, no in-game trades with NPCs and no KFC's either.

I will most likely have to make some other decrees and vows as I play, but those are the rules. I will stick to them as I play Pokemon Sun...

...which is probably the easiest and most disappointing pokemon game ever made...
